ROBERT MCDOUGALL:- A photographer and books publisher of Romany Life (currently out of print). However, Robert intends to reproduce some of his books in 2008 - details of which will be advertised on this site and in our journals.
In 1989 Robert photographed numerous encampments of Romany Travellers, their families and caravans on waste-land in the Waterloo Road area of the South Shore at Blackpool.
1988-89 Robert photographed Romanies extensively at Appleby Fair and published many of those photos in his book "ROMANY ROYAL GYPSIES IN BRITAIN", which also included Romanies at Epsom, Town Moor, Scarborough and Morecombe in Blackpool - Many fortune-tellers shown.
1990s Robert self-published "GYPSY GALLERY" which contained other Romany photographs and text.
He also published another Romany book on the HISTORY OF 1890 BLACKPOOL PLEASURE BEACH GYPSY CAMP and the Gypsies who initiated the first amusement park there. Boswells' were prominent at the time.
Romany historians familiar with Roberts numerous books are Barrie Law, ARPS, Bob Dawson and Jennifer Boyd Cropley of Cottage Books.
